I lost and found myself in the mountains
Having spent majority of my life in the flat planes of Uttar Pradesh, the idea of trekking had never crossed my mind. After being posted in guwahati, I have had the opportunity to go on multiplt treks. I have simply loved it. Trekking has helped me to grow physically, emotionally and spiritually.

When walking on a trek without asking for how long will I have to walk? How hard is the journey ahead? When will I reach the destination ? We actually defeat the purpose of the trek. It is when we surrender ourself to the nature, become one with it and just walk on the path in front of us carefully, we really enjoy a trek. Wether the route is an easy one or a hard one, made of pointed slippery stones or of round bamboos on a steep cliff, the only thing needed is the will to move forward with full awareness and concentration.

When there are no alternate routes or shortcuts available, we stop looking for the easy way. Similarly in life when moving towards a goal in life we become disenchanted by the monotony of the work. We start looking for an easy way. We then shift our focus on things that excite us in the short term even if it may distract us from reaching our goal in the long run. Trekking taught me to trust the process and not to look for shortcuts. This is very important to avoid getting distracted when walking towards our true goal.

When we look at the final goal, it might seem to be a daunting task, even impossible at times. But if we truly love the process, the happiness and fulfillment sprouts from within us. It pushes us towards our goal once we overcome the initial inertia.

When we zoom in to the specific tasks needed to be done to achieve the goal, the tasks appear manageable and doable. Similarly a steep cliff may seem difficult to climb but when we actually come closer to it we find a way through narrow gaps between rocks or some support to place our hands and feet on to move ahead.

The pristine environment of mountains purify our body and mind from within. The water, air and sand, everything connects us with mother nature.
So trust the process and surrender yourself to mother nature. Experience the change, be the change.
